Take it you mean your at ed uni and people record things in classes you take? Hope i can do the same then. Will ask though, id feel too guilty if i didnt. if that makes sense? Ah dont want to ask only to be rejected and have eagle eyes on me there afterwards. A lot of what ive seen doing google searches just talks about disabled students being able to record lectures.which makes me worry that if they need to specify for a specific group that others not in that disabled category dont have the right. The numbers prove the same as well with 1. Naughty i know but the way i see it, we pay their wages, im paying to learn and if i learn better by recording and listening to something repeatedly (especially when exams are coming up, right pain to scroll through dozens of pages and revise on a bus etc or when walking around) then i should have the right. Learning has drastically changed over the last year ever since a global pandemic forced most of the world indoors. lol id probably still try and record some if i cant keep up writing notes sneakily. I know you're supposed to ask permission.but then if you ask and they say no they'll know you intended to record them and so keep an eye on you in future. Just don't do what my ex-flatmate did arrive half way through the lecture, walk up to the lecturer while they were in full flow in front of 300 people and dump a dictaphone before wandering off. Also, if you are recording a lecture or a speech, sit in the front row if. Always best to politely ask the lecturer at the beginning, but I've seen anybody turned down. Does anyone know if Edinburgh uni permits students to take voice recorders in lectures or if they prohibit it? Also anyone know what device would suit recording lectures at a distance (im crap with technology and can only find things that you need to talk directly in to grrr!) Any advice/help appreciated You should be all right. plus its easier to learn by listening than reading i find. Was thinking of taking a voice recorder in lectures and recording them all so if i miss something or dont have time to take notes i could listen to the lecture at a later time on the bus or at home and make notes there. Basically as the title says.im worried about keeping up with the workload as i am going straight in to 3rd year and have been told its extremely difficult.
